In response to an inquiry, the Royal Pacific has informed us that the daily parking rate for commuters at the Pacifica Ballroom DOES NOT include in and out privileges. Commuters will receive a parking ticket when the enter the lot, and will insert that ticket into the payment machine when exiting, so each visit by commuters will be charged separately.
In light of this new information, if commuters wish to stay on site for lunch, please note that there are several restaurants at the hotel, and a number of others at nearby City Walk.
Guest of the Royal Pacific do have in and out privileges, at both the hotel and Pacifica Ballroom lots, so those who can carpool to lunch off-site with hotel guests can avoid the double charge.
QWERTY, a Scrabble-themed movie, will be screened in Orlando on Tuesday, Aug 14th at 7:30 pm at the AMC Universal Cineplex in Orlando. UPDATE: the producers have guaranteed that the screening will go forward. For more information, please visit the event screening site.
NSC t-shirts will be available for sale at the 2012 NSC, while supplies last. Designed by our own Jeremy Hildebrand, the t-shirts sell for $10 each, and are available in a variety of adult sizes. The shirts will be available at the check-in desk on Friday, August 10th, and at the Activities Director's table on Saturday - Wednesday (while supplies last).
Parking at the Pacifica Ballroom gates ONLY will be available at the following rates:
Self parking for hotel guests is also available for $17 per day (hotel guests do not require a voucher). Valet parking is also available at an increased rate. 6.5% sales tax applies to all rates. Rates and tax subject to change.
Participants in the 2012 National Scrabble Championship are responsible for bringing all equipment necessary to play in the tournament. If neither player in a game has equipment available for their game, a double forfeit may be imposed.
Players who are staying at the host hotel must present their room key, which bears their name and dates of stay, at the tournament check-in desk when picking up their registration materials. For that reason, players should check-in at the Royal Pacific before visiting the tournament check-in desk. Non-local players who fail to provide evidence of being registered guests of the host hotel for the duration of the tournament (5 nights minimum) will be charged the $50 commuter fee.
