The 2022 Scrabble Players Championship will include the tenth annual Early Bird tournament and for the first time, a Late Bird tournament. Both events will be NASPA-rated and will take place in the University Ballroom under the directorship of John Chew.

Results will be posted online on our event coverage server.

Registration

Registration is open to all NASPA members in good standing.

To be included in the pairings, you must check in at the event at the designated time.

If your plans change, you may request a refund during the main event.

Entry Fee

The Entry Fee, paid at the door, is $20 for each event.

Paying your entry fee in advance with your main event fee saves you 50% ($10 instead of $20).

Event staff and volunteers and certified directors are entitled to a further 50% off - $10 at the door or $5 if paid with main event fee.

Format

This event will be played according to NASPA Rules using the NASPA Word List lexicon currently in force for tournament play (NWL2020). (If four or more players prefer Collins, they will play in a separate Collins division, which will be NASPA-rated only.) Chew pairings will be in effect (with no fixed initial schedule), with Gibsonization. No division will have more than 16 players.

Prizes

Average entry fees per player calculated across the whole event, less participation fees of $2/player, will be returned in each division prorated by number of players in each division, subject to rounding errors in units of $5. At least one class prize will be awarded in each division of at least eight players.
