Officially sanctioned SCRABBLE play in Canada and the United States must obey the Official Tournament Rules, edited by the NSA Rules Committee. When the committee is transferred to NASPA later in 2009, the rules will move to this web site.

Several rules changes become effective August 1st, 2009 (not July 1st, as originally announced). Please read the list of changes carefully. The rules are available in PDF format for online viewing and printing:
