The 2010 National SCRABBLE Championship will include for the first time an unrated Early Bird tournament. This tournament offers a playing opportunity to a group of players who can play in fewer SCRABBLE tournaments than others: NSC staff and other NASPA directors.

Results

Congratulations to Joel Sherman, winner of the first-ever National SCRABBLE Championship Early Bird, undefeated with a record of 3-0 +371. Joel received an extra event T-shirt for his win.

Thanks to all who participated in this inaugural event. Complete results are available online.

Registration

In order to play in this tournament, you must be listed as staff or other volunteers on the NSC web page, or you must be a certified NASPA Director in good standing (apprentices welcome).

If you’re interested in playing, please email John Chew to be added to the player roster.

To be included in the pairings, you must check in at the event at the designated time.

Entry Fee

No entry fee will be charged for this event.

Prizes

Prizes may be donated for this event, but none are guaranteed at this point, and we hope that those who play do so for the sake of camaraderie and competition.

Format

This event will be played according to NASPA Rules using the OTCWL lexicon. (If four or more players prefer SOWPODS, they will play in a separate SOWPODS division.) All three rounds will be paired Swiss. No division will have more than 16 players.
